Onset Fire District elects new moderator

The Onset Fire District has a new moderator, after former Moderator Pamela Pike - who was previously elected to the office in 2008 -  was elected with 13 write-in votes at the district election Tuesday, May 21.

The total turnout for Tuesday's election was 58 voters.

Monday, at the annual meeting Marcine Fernandes nominated Pamela Pike to be moderator, and Pike was sworn in immediately. Former moderator Linwood Gay resigned from the position in the summer of 2012.

Marcine Fernandes ran unopposed for reelection to a three-year term on the Prudential Committee, and garnered 54 votes. Also running unopposed, was Water Commissioner Brian O'Hearne, who received 53 votes and will serve another three-year term.
