Onset Parking Program regulations take effect May 1

Apr 29, 2016

Town officials remind residents that Onset’s parking program takes effect May 1 and continues through Oct. 31.

The program was first introduced in 2014, and it went through a number of changes during that year after residents voiced a litany of complaints.

The program aims to benefit Onset residents by prohibiting visitors from parking on residential streets in Onset for extended periods of time.

The Onset Resident Parking Program allows residents to park anywhere within a permitted parking zone, provided no other parking restrictions apply. Vehicles must not remain in the same location for longer then 72 hours. During weather-related parking bans and street sweeping, vehicles are not allowed on the street.

Parking permits are issued all year, and they can be purchased at the Harbormaster Office, located at 48 Marion Road in the Multi-Service Center. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking permits cost $10 per vehicle.
