The Wareham Free Library and the Wareham Historical Society will host “Carving Out Your Story: An Oral History Workshop” at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3.

This interactive and free 90-minute workshop will help uncover interesting stories from participants’ lives. Using story prompts and interactive activities, award-winning storytellers Karen Chace and Andrea Lovett will guide attendees through the process of finding nuggets that deserve to be remembered.

For the past several years, Chace and Lovett have collaborated with senior citizens in the Greater Lakeville/Freetown area, helping them excavate priceless memories.

A few of the stories have included the joy of winning a coveted bicycle race and the resulting mayhem, a young bride’s excitement moving away from a small-town to join her drafted husband during the Korean Conflict, and a historic meeting with Coretta Scott King.

To register for this event, contact Reference/Outreach Librarian Steven Miller at (508) 295-2343, extension 1012, or via email at smiller@sailsinc.org. Attendees should bring a notebook, pencil, and a willingness to explore and have fun.

This event is also sponsored by the Friends of the Wareham Free Library.
