Pan-Mass Challenge to whizz through Wareham this weekend

Aug 1, 2022

Cyclists raising funds to fight cancer will roll through Wareham this weekend as part of the Pan-Mass Challenge.

Per Pan-Mass Challenge, more than 6,000 riders are participating this year with the goal of breaking last year's record donation by raising more than $66 million for cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Four Wareham riders are taking part this year: Claire Conroy, Ken Destremps, Katie Moulding and Nichole Wade.

Participants can choose one of 16 routes, ranging in length from 25 to 211 miles, spread over two days.

Most of those routes go through Wareham, connecting riders to the Cape. Drivers should be on the look-out for cyclists both on Saturday and Sunday.

The PMC route enters Wareham at County Road in West Wareham. It then heads right on Pierceville Road and right onto Papermill Road before continuing on Main Street.

The route stays on Main before taking a right onto Gibbs Avenue, a left onto High Street, and then continuing onto Church Street before looping back on Warr Ave. and Main St. to get on Minot Avenue. Cyclists then take Onset Avenue until it reaches Cranberry Highway. They then take Route 28 out of town.
