Pike, Murphy victorious in Onset Fire District election
May 21, 2014
With only 58 voters in 2013, the Onset Fire District elections saw a major increase with 335 at Tuesday’s elections, with Pamela Pike beating out Mark Maxim for the open seat on the Prudential Committee and Peter Murphy ousting incumbent Brenda Eckstrom for the Board of Water Commissioners seat.
Pike had 172 votes to Maxim’s 137 for the open three-year term on the Prudential Committee. The seat formerly belonged Jovina Dean, who had served on the Prudential Committee for 21 years. She chose not to run for re-election this year.
Murphy, a former water commissioner himself, captured 218 votes to Eckstrom’s 111 for the three-year term on the Board of Water Commissioners.
Lenny Gay had 16 write-in votes for Moderator.
