Aug 23, 2019

State and Onset Fire Departments are seeking help to solve the case of two suspicious in nature fires, with the most recent occurring on Tuesday, August 20.

State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey, Onset Fire Chief Raymond Goodwin, and Wareham Acting Police Chief John Walcek said a series of fires in the Nanumett Heights neighborhood of Onset are being investigated. All of the fires may or may not be related. These fires are being jointly investigated by the Onset Fire and Wareham Police Departments and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Anyone with information about these fires are asked to contact local fire or police or the statewide Arson Hotline at 1-800-682-9229. All calls are confidential, said Ostroskey.

The Arson Hotline is part of the Arson Watch Reward Program which provides rewards of up to $5,000 for information that helps to solve the case. The program is sponsored by the property and casualty insurance underwriting companies of Massachusetts.
