Wareham Police announced several recent arrests.

On Friday, Feb. 19, officers arrested Mattison Nikolov, 35, of Wareham, for two charges of shoplifting worth more than $250. According to police and Lowe’s loss prevention staff, Nikolov put tools in an empty trash barrel before scanning only the barrel at check-out on Feb. 19. Loss prevention determined that she had allegedly not scanned items totaling $729 in value. Officers say they believe Nikolov had stolen more than $1,200 worth of goods during two visits to the store.

On Friday, Feb. 26, an officer arrived at an unspecified parking lot following the report of a bonfire. There, he found David Lawrence, 45, of North Dartmouth, who was allegedly “agitated, belligerent, and yelling profanities” and told firefighters that they “were not allowed to extinguish the fire.” Lawrence was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and setting a fire in an open area.

On Sunday, Feb. 28, officers responded to a parking lot at Cranberry Highway and Sandwich Road for a report of a vehicle with heavy front-end damage. During their investigation, officers determined that the driver, William Harriman, 33, of East Wareham, seemed to be impaired. He was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and failing to stay in marked lanes.
