Police arrest suspect in Taunton kidnapping
Wareham police raided the Rosewood Motel in Wareham on Sunday night, freeing the 21-year-old victim of a Sunday-night kidnapping in Taunton and charging 50-year-old Kenneth Rocha with kidnapping and indecent assault in connection the crime.
At approximately 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, Taunton police called to request assistance in locating a 50-year-old male who abducted a 21-year-old female in their town on Sunday evening.
According to the police log, The Taunton police had a clue that the female had been forced into the trunk of a car owned by the woman's ex-boyfriend "Kenny." The car was last seen at the Rosewood Motel, 3115 Cranberry Highway, in Wareham.
The ensuing investigation led Wareham and Taunton Police to room #12 at the motel, where both Rocha, of 841 Bay St. in Taunton, and the victim were found.
According to a police press release, Rocha had kidnapped the victim and then transferred her from the trunk of his car into a pickup truck and then driven her to Wareham.
The victim told police that she had been bound and gagged while in the trunk of the car. She also told police that while they were at the motel, Rocha sexually assaulted her and refused to let her leave.
Rocha was held at the Wareham Police Department and was arraigned Monday morning at Wareham District Court. His status is unknown at this time.
