Police arrest suspects in armed robbery at Wareham ATM

Oct 19, 2010

Three teens were arrested in Bourne this morning in connection to an armed robbery that occurred at the Bank of America ATM located in the Cranberry Plaza Shopping Center in East Wareham around 8:00.

The assailants allegedly shot a male victim in the face with either a pellet or a BB gun. The victim drove himself to the Bourne State Police Barracks to report the crime, and was treated at Tobey Hospital for his injuries.

A witness of the crime called 911 and followed the car the suspects were traveling in until Wareham and Bourne police officers were able to catch up.

Wareham officers, assisted by Bourne officers, stopped the vehicle in a rest area on Scenic Highway.

Darrell DeBarros, 19, of Brockton, 17-year-old Kerry Quinn, of Hyannis, and a 15-year-old male from Hyannis were arrested at the stop. The vehicle, a green Chevy Tahoe, was found to be stolen last night in Barnstable.

The suspects will be arraigned at Wareham Fourth District Court this afternoon.

Wareham Police Chief Richard Stanley commended his officers and detectives, and praised the Bourne Police for assisting Wareham Police in the quick apprehension of the individuals.

The location of the Bank of America ATM on Cranberry Highway is in the same parking lot where a level three sex offender attempted to abduct and rape a woman in late September.
