Police charge two with counterfeiting

Wareham Police have arrested two Wareham residents, Richard McCarthy, 21, of 46 Jefferson Shores Rd. Onset, and William Reardon, 22, of 118 Onset Ave., Onset, and charged them with two counts of possession and uttering of counterfeit money.

On March 5, 2010, Wareham Police Officer James White along with Wareham Police Detectives responded to the 7-11 convenience store at 3106 Cranberry Highway, Wareham. The store manager reported that they had received two counterfeit fifty-dollar bills in their receipts.

A three-day investigation led Wareham Police to McCarthy and Reardon. Both men were taken into custody on March 8, and they were arraigned at Wareham 4th District Court that afternoon.

Wareham Police have charged each with possession and uttering of counterfeit fifty dollar bills, two counts. They are both scheduled for a second court appearance on April 12, 2010.
