Police foot chase ends in Wareham man's arrest
A call from a concerned resident led to a police foot chase and the arrest of a 35-year-old Wareham man with an outstanding warrant.
Police received a suspicious vehicle report at approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday in East Wareham. Officer Stephen Joy found the vehicle at Cumberland Farms on Depot Street when the driver, Christopher Holmes, fled the scene.
Police said Holmes eluded officers by running through business and residential properties until Detective Bryan Whalen and Sergeant John Gerard caught him three quarters of a mile away from his vehicle.
In addition to the outstanding arrest warrant, Holmes was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
After he was booked at the Wareham Police Department, Holmes was taken to Wareham District Court for arraignment on July 13. He will have a pre-trial on Aug. 11.
