Police investigating potentially fatal hit-and-run
Police may have located a white pickup truck involved in a serious accident that left one person with life-threatening injuries, according to initial emergency broadcasts.
A 56-year-old man was taken to Tobey Hospital on Monday night after a hit-and-run near 3029 Cranberry Highway.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., Wareham Police Department officers, along with the Onset Fire Department and Wareham EMS personnel responded to the area, located near McDonald’s.
Wareham Police responded to Aunt Hannah’s Lane, located off of Onset Avenue, Tuesday morning where a white pickup truck had been parked in a wooded area behind a home.
On Tuesday morning, Wareham officers were stationed near where the pickup was parked to keep the public away. Officers declined to comment at the scene.
According to emergency broadcasts, it was believed the truck may have been involved in the accident.
Route 6 west and eastbound lanes from Onset Avenue to Glen Charlie Road were closed during the investigation. Police said witness statements regarding the incident and the involved vehicle are being compiled at this time.
The identity of the injured man is being withheld at this time.
