Police seek robbery suspect
Wareham police are seeking a man in connection with an armed robbery at the Maxi Gas station, 3242 Cranberry Highway, at approximately 8 p.m. Feb. 2.
The store's clerk called 911 and told police that a six-foot-tall, heavy-set male with dark brown hair came in the front door, pointed a black handgun at him, and demanded money. The clerk handed over an undetermined amount of cash. He stated to police that the suspect told him not to call the police for five minutes or he would shoot him.
The robber then fled on foot toward Onset Avenue. An intense man hunt by Wareham patrols as well as a K-9 unit from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
The suspect is described as a white male in his thirties, approximately six-feet tall, and weighing 225 pounds. The suspect has dark brown or black hair, a receding hairline and a pointed chin. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black jacket and a knit cap with a ring design around it.
Wareham Police are asking that anybody with information contact the Wareham Police Department at 508-295-1212 or the Tip Line at 508-291-2300.
