Preparations underway for 'Gateway to the Holidays'
The Fearing Tavern is about to get festive.
On Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. all are invited to the historic home for “Gateway to the Holidays,” hosted by the Wareham Garden Club and the Wareham Historical Society.
Five rooms of the Fearing Tavern will be filled with decorations and flower arrangements put together by Garden Club members. And the mailroom, which served as the town’s first post office, will be transformed into space for Santa to write letters.
A tasting table with soups and small pies is also on the menu, said Garden Club member Barbara Van Inwegen.
Van Inwegen said the event marks the first collaboration between the Garden Club and Historical Society in about a decade.
In addition to opening the Fearing Tavern’s doors to the Garden Club, the Wareham Historical Society will hold a craft fair on the same day. The fair takes place at the Methodist Meeting House, located at 495 Main St., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We’re very appreciative of this partnership between the Historical Society and the Garden Club,” said Historical Society President Angela Dunham. “This is going to be a great way to start the holiday season.”
Tickets for “Gateway to the Holidays” cost $5. Purchasing one enters guests into a drawing for a gift basket. For more information, email: warehamgardenclub@gmail.com.
