Q&A with Mr and Mrs. Claus
Between traveling, financial pressures, social commitments and frenzied shopping, the holidays can be a stressful time of year.
But Christmas shoppers at Wareham Crossing can take solace in the fact that two very special individuals have stopped by the mall this winter to spread holiday cheer and put smiles on people's faces.
Mr. and Mrs. Claus have taken time out of their busy holiday schedule to spend some time at Wareham Crossing. Wareham Week was able to catch up with them about their time in town.
What's your experience been like so far at Wareham Crossing?
Santa: It's been great. There are holiday rides around the corner, we sing Christmas carols and go in and out of the stores in the mall greeting people. It's such a nice thing to see people slow down, smile and have fun this time of year.
Mrs. Claus: The adults and the elderly love it as much as the kids.
Santa: Oh yes, the adults love to take selfies with Santa.
What have children been asking for this year?
Mrs. Claus: Frozen characters are big this year. There haven't been that many requests for electronics as years past.
Santa: There are a lot of kids asking for dolls and trucks--the old standards.
Have more Wareham kids been on the nice list or naughty list?
Santa: The kids have been all smiles and well-mannered. There have been no beard tugs so far. Definitely more children on the nice list, there hasn't even been a mention of coal.
What do you do when you're not delivering toys to millions of children? Do you have any hobbies?
Santa: I like to race the sleigh.
Mrs Claus: He also has a Harley.
Do you spend all your time in the North Pole or would you consider getting a summer home in Wareham?
Mrs. Claus: We generally stay up in the North Pole but we do like the warmer weather here.
Santa: The red cheeks are a dead giveaway of sun burn, I know. It's tough hitting golf balls from ice berg to ice berg.
The big question, how are you able to do everything in one night?
Santa: Christmas magic. That's the answer.
You can catch the Claus' in Wareham Crossing Monday-Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
