Raymond T. Franklin, 85

Raymond T. Franklin, 85, of Wareham, died August 3 in the Tufts N.E. Medical Center, Boston. He was the husband of Mildred L. (Hanks) Franklin. They were married for 65 years. He was the son of the late Warren and Delia (Guidaboni) Franklin.

He was born in Wareham and lived there for most of his life.  Mr. Franklin served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Mr. Franklin worked as a nailer for the Tremont Nail Factory for 42 years before retiring in 1993.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed dining out and listening to gospel music, especially The Gaithers. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his widow; 2 sons, Gary A. Franklin and his wife Loren of Wareham and Thomas W. Franklin and his wife Agnes of Forestdale; a daughter, Gloria L. Honl of Wareham; a brother, Roy Franklin and his wife Irene of Wareham; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

His funeral was held August 8 in the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene. Burial followed in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Visiting hours were held Sunday at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home.
