Relay for Life participants support cure for cancer, carnival style

Jun 22, 2013

More than 250 participants on two dozen teams brought a carnival to the Wareham Middle School track on Friday and Saturday, during the annual Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

At least $47,000 was raised before and even during the overnight event, the theme of which was "Carnival for a Cure."

Participants walked themed laps with stuffed animals, balloons, and lollipops, to name a few. The event also featured dance performances.

Relay for Life is a celebration of life and survival, and features teams that walk the school's track for the duration of the event -- to symbolize the fact that "cancer never sleeps."
