Retail shift to West Wareham is positive
Dec 21, 2010
To the Editor:
It is quite apparent that the development of the Wareham Crossing mall and its success have begun to shift the town's retail center to West Wareham, primarily in proximity to the Interstate 195 interchange.
Although some may view this shift as negative, I view it as a positive trend. I don't think it is realistic to believe that development will not take place in this easily accessed and convenient part of town.
More businesses bring more competition, and competition benefits consumers and business in general. I view Walmart's proposal as as both a benefit and an opportunity for our town, and hope we can take the long view strategically and economically by supporting the Walmart project.
