Rev. Jay P. Warden, D.Min., 85

Rev. Jay P. Warden, D.Min., 85, of Wareham, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.  He was the life partner of 30 years to Dennis Morini of Wareham. He was born in Los Angeles, California, the youngest of 5 children to the late Adrian and Edna (Straub) Warden, and was closest to his sister Mary Anderson.

He graduated from Culinary School in 1965, the University of California Santa Barbara in 1966 with a BA in Psychology, the Seminary of the West, Berkeley, CA with a BA in Theology, Antioch College in 1986 with a Masters in Theology, and Boston University in 1993 with a Doctorate in Ministry.  He worked with the Ministry of the World Mission Support Boston from 1985-1994, and more recently was a Psychotherapist and College Instructor for Cape Cod Community College. His church affiliation was American Baptist and he enjoyed traveling, gardening, home projects and photography. 

Jay’s words of wisdom were “Don’t worry about theology, consider the emotion and circumstances.”

He is survived by his daughters: Jayne and her husband Brett Bloomberg of Washington State and Duuana Warden of Washington State.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Karl and Freya Bloomberg and Dalton Otey-Warden, Dennis' son Kevin Goncalves, and his grandson, Christopher Friel. 

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 2, from 4 to 6 pm at the Wareham Village Funeral Home, 5 Center Street, Wareham.  Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
