Richard Allan Williams, 80, of West Wareham died Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehab. Center in Brewster after a long illness. He was the husband of Margaret L. (Mercer) Williams.

Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Charles Herbert Williams and Jane Stephen (Reid) Williams. He graduated from Brockton Trade School and Oliver Ames High School in 1961 and worked as a diesel mechanic for many years. Mr. Williams then worked as a machinist for the Polaroid Corp.

Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam from 1962 to 1966 and served in the Seabees. He loved watching the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots, but especially enjoyed watching NASCAR car and truck races. Mr. Williams also enjoyed camping, fishing, tending to his vegetable garden and tinkering with anything with a motor. He loved animals and feeding wild birds and was always available to help others.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret L. Williams of West Wareham; his children, Monica Anderson (Joseph A. Baglione) of Halifax, Spencer Anderson (Amy) of Middleboro; his stepchildren, Allan Johnson (Linda Cox) of Wareham, Kim Hall (Tom) of Wareham and Glenn Johnson (Elaine) of Hingham; his sister, Shirley Ann Ladetto (John) of Sagamore; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, the late Charles Herbert Williams, Jr. and George C. “Joe” Williams.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High St., Canton at 11 a.m. Please arrive at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
