Richard J. “Dickie” Barros, 86, of Hyannis, died at Cape Cod Hospital on July 2.

Born in Barnstable, he was the son of the late Manuel Barros, born in Fogo, Cape Verde and Beatrice (Perry) Barros born in Boston.

Dickie made his living throughout Cape Cod working construction. He loved playing guitar, singing, helping others, dancing and spending time with his family. He was proud to be inducted into the Zion Union Heritage Museum in Hyannis, for his contributions in music.

He is survived by his children, Karen Rogers (Barry) of Centerville, Richie Baptiste of New Bedford, Ricardo Barros of New Bedford, Rene Golay of Randolph, Kimberly Coates of New Bedford, Michele Mendes (James) of Hyannis, Marlene Faria and Larry Pusher of Centerville and Alexander (Wendy) of Acushnet, his siblings Manny Martin of Hyannis, Eugenia Martin of Boston, and Manny Barros of Boston, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren, Dickie is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends throughout Cape Cod, Wareham, New Bedford and Boston. He was predeceased by his children Robert Baptiste, Michael Baptiste and Dee Dee Baptiste, all of New Bedford. His bloodline extends to the proud tradition of the Perry’s and Pina’s

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 76 Wianno Road, Osterville. Burial will follow in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
