Richard Edward “Eddie” Flagg

Jun 27, 2025

BUZZARDS BAY - Richard Edward “Eddie” Flagg of Buzzards Bay, MA, went home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2025. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Eddie lived a remarkable life — one filled with adventure, purpose, and deep faith. Raised in Brockton by his beloved mother, Florence, he never imagined the abundance of blessings the Lord would pour into his life. Chief among them was his cherished wife of 55 years, Grace, who preceded him to heaven, and their three daughters: Sheila, Beverly, and Deb. For the past five years, he was blessed again with love and companionship through his wife, Joni LeBlanc

Eddie also deeply loved his sons-in-law — Michael, Artie, and Mark — and took great pride and joy in his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

In 1972, while fishing in Plymouth Harbor and gazing at Bug Light, Eddie had a vision for a revolutionary product that would transform the paper industry. That moment inspired the creation of the core chuck and launched what would become the global Double E Company.

Outside of business, Eddie’s passions came alive in nature. If it could be grown, caught, or hunted — he mastered it. From his epic gardens to lobstering, fishing, and hunting (yes, even bagging a bear!), he lived each day to the fullest.

He was also a proud New England sports fan, holding season tickets to both the Red Sox and the Patriots.

Above all, Eddie’s deepest devotion was to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If you ever met him, chances are you heard about the hope of salvation through Jesus. His faith was the foundation of his life.

Two of his favorite scriptures beautifully reflect his heart and legacy:

Psalm 23:6 – “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Please join us in celebrating Eddie’s extraordinary life at 6:00 PM on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Faith Community Church, 146 E Main St, Hopkinton, MA 01748. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Eddie’s honor to the Ewings Sarcoma Foundation at: https://zippy-reg.com/fundraise/2167/team/35480 or use the QR code above. This organization was special to Eddie because his grandson, Christian, beat this cancer.
