Richard Michael Morano, 83
WAREHAM – Richard Michael Morano, 83, of Wareham, MA, passed away on August 22, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, MA. He was the beloved husband of Nancy M. (Lambiase) Morano, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Winthrop, MA, he was the son of the late Richard D. and Mary (Caliguri) Morano. Richard lived in Upper Saddle River, NJ, for 42 years before moving to Wareham, MA in 2021. He attended Boston Latin School, Arlington High School, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Professionally, Richard was the founder of Indices-PAC Research Corp and enjoyed a lifelong career as a hedge fund manager. He was also a proud member of both the Boston Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange.
Analytical in all aspects of life, Richard found great joy in mathematics, complex problem-solving, and the satisfaction of discovering creative solutions. He was a passionate collector of model trains and cutting-edge technology. He loved all genres of music, taking immense pride in his extensive record collection and meticulously curated playlists—always eager to connect his device to the nearest speakers. He also enjoyed target shooting. Above all, he cherished challenging his grandchildren to games of chess, riddles, or math problems.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his five children: Richard Morano of Arlington, TX; Joel Morano of Walpole, MA; Raymond Morano of New City, NY; Maria Costa of Warwick, NY; and Michelle Morano-Condon of Lyme, CT. He was the brother of Paul Morano of FL, Kathryn Villecco of Burlington, MA, Deborah Morano of Sandwich, MA, Mary Mitchell of Medford, MA, and Elizabeth Morano of Sandwich, MA. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren: Alexandra, Kallan, Faith, Joel II, Evelyn, Madison, Ryan, Peter, Kevin, Patrick, Anna, Michael, Mira, Josephine, and Nathaniel; and his great-grandson, Theodore. He was predeceased by his grandson, Matthew Morano- Condon, and his brothers, David Morano and Christopher Morano.
Visiting hours will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. His funeral will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 94 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
