Sandra Lee (Snell) Sumner, 78
CARVER – Sandra Lee (Snell) Sumner, 78, of Carver, passed away on December 8, 2023, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Plymouth. She was the wife of the late Steven R. Sumner and the daughter of the late Alonzo and Rose (Ouellette) Snell.
She was born in Wareham and lived there for many years before moving to Carver in 1977. She graduated from Wareham High School.
Mrs. Sumner worked for Affiliated Professional Services in Wareham for many years. She had also worked as a Customer Service Manager for Stop and Shop in Plymouth.
Sandra delighted in fun and maintained a love of adventure and learning throughout her life. She was also highly competitive! In her life, this showed up in her many cribbage games, and trips to the casino. She loved to venture out and would plan trips for her children and their cousins each summer to Lincoln Park, fairs, and John’s Pond. Sandra and her husband had many adventures as a couple over the years, as well as with their friends and family. With countless trips to Aruba (where she ate her beloved pickled onions), Memphis, Hawaii, Florida, and Las Vegas. She was extremely sentimental, saving every card, flower and memento throughout her life. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, Shadow. She loved photographs, lobster, bingo, Judge Judy, and all things Elvis. Above all else she found the greatest joy in being a mother and a grandmother. She would do anything for them and fought fiercely for them her entire life. She was absolutely feisty, funny, bold, and tender. She was a force; she said and did whatever she wanted regardless of the consequences. She was very witty and clever. She had an answer for everything and gave it to you if you wanted it or not. She truly embodied the adage of a life well lived.
