Saturday: Test drive a Ford to raise funds for DECA team
Wareham Ford and Wareham High School will host the Drive 4 UR School program this Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Town Hall parking lot on Marion Road.
For every person who test drives a new Ford vehicle at the event, Ford Motor Company and Wareham Ford will donate $20 to Wareham High School's DECA program -- up to $6,000.
No vehicles will be sold during the event.
"This is such a fun time for the kids and the drivers. It really brings the school and the community together," said parent Joyce Bacchiocchi. "Wareham Ford is so generous to run this great program for Wareham High School, and there is absolutely no sales pitch. No one is going to ask you to buy a car, we promise."
DECA, the Distributive Education Clubs of America, is an extracurricular club that helps students gain marketing knowledge and skills needed to build a strong business background.
The Wareham team will use the funds to defray the costs of academic competitions. It will also support other clubs and extracurricular activities throughout the school.
