Scholarships available for summer fun at the Onset Bay Center

Mar 11, 2022

Registration is now open for April and summer vacation programs at the Onset Bay Center, with plenty of scholarships available.

Sign-ups are initially restricted to Wareham residents.

The Onset Bay Explorers programs are the center’s camp options, held from the center’s location on Onset Beach with plenty of opportunities for kids and teens to explore the beach and the bay.

All who register for programs at the center are sent a scholarship form. Households earning between $45,000 and $63,000 a year are eligible for a scholarship to cover 75 percent of the cost of attending. For households earning less than $45,000 each year, programs will be free. There is a two-week limit for free enrollment in the summer Bay Explorers program.

During April vacation, there will be 10 slots a day for 8 to 13 year-olds.

This summer, the camps will double in size from last year, with a total of 20 spots open each session: 10 for 8 to 10-year-olds and 10 for those ages 11 to 13.

Youth and teen sailing camps are also planned for those ages 8 to 12 and 13 to 18, respectively.

In addition to week-long programs, a number of evening programs are planned. Adults will be able to learn sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, and paddle boarding, and family sailing and kayak classes are planned. Family fishing trips with Maureen Ann Charter Fishing are in the works.

Other activities, like yoga and art classes are also planned.
