William Gouveia is the Scotty Monteiro Jr. award-winner for the month of January at Wareham Middle School.

William always completes his assignments, and attends Zooms and office hours where he asks plenty of questions.

“He has a great work ethic and is always respectful to his teachers and peers,” the school said. “We are very proud to have such a wonderful student at our school!”

The Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation’s cause is “Stopping the Violence” through education and awareness and rewarding excellent students.

The foundation honors the memory of Scotty Monteiro, Jr., an Onset native and Wareham High School graduate who was killed in 2009 when he attempted to stop a robbery at a party.
