Select Board approves use of town roads for summer, fall events

The Select Board unanimously approved Tuesday, April 11 applications for the use of town roads for multiple events over the summer and fall.

Buzzards Bay Coalition asked for the use of town roads due to the Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on October 1, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The annual biking event runs from Little Compton, Rhode Island to Woods Hole. There will be no road closures on the day of the event.

Select Board Member Alan Slavin asked Jonah Guerin, who presented the application, to send the town an insurance form that would protect the town from liability in the event of an injury during the ride. 

Max Performance asked for the use of town roads for the Harvest Triathlon Bike Course on June 11, 2023 from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Max Performance representative Tim Richmond thanked the fire and police departments in Wareham for helping to redesign the bike course to reduce congestion near Wareham Crossing.

Parkwood Beach Association asked for the use of town roads for its Centennial Parade on July 15, 2023.

The event celebrates the association’s 100th year anniversary and will begin at their clubhouse on Cypress Street.
