Selectman Slavin recaps Lt. Gov. Polito's visit

May 20, 2015

Selectman Alan Slavin briefly recapped Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito’s visit to Wareham last Thursday at Tuesday night’s selectmen meeting.

Slavin acted as moderator for the visit, which took place at the Wareham Free Library. He said representatives from several other towns besides Wareham were present, including Bourne, Marion, and Rochester. Polito has been touring the state in order to address community issues at the local level.

Slavin said he had put together a total of 12 or 13 questions for Polito, but, because Polito answered questions by town in alphabetical order, most of the questions Slavin put together had already been asked.

Slavin said the questions included queries about unfunded mandates, state aid programs, and towns and cities having the ability to issue their own liquor licenses, rather than the state.

Slavin said he felt the meeting went well, and that the questions were satisfactorily answered.

“I expect to see the Lt. Gov. back in a month or two,” Slavin said.
