Selectmen approve marijuana testing facility

Mar 26, 2019

The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to approve a host agreement for National Laboratories & Consulting, a marijuana testing facility, on 4 Recovery Rd.

"When we talk about a marijuana facility, this is actually the testing lab, it is a controlled organization, it requires that all the product be tested by an independent laboratory," said Selectman Peter Teitelbaum.

The Board of Selectmen clarified that the laboratory will not sell cannabis.

"To clarify, this is not a place people could go visit, this is strictly a laboratory,” said Selectman Alan Slavin. “The laboratory tests product that is grown and sent by manufacturers."

Selectmen also assured the public that the laboratory was certified by the state and will comply with all safety requirements.

The laboratory is set to be Wareham’s third marijuana business, following medical and recreational dispensary Verilife and Organa Brands, a marijuana manufacturer that will occupy a building on the Tremont Nail site.
