Selectmen grant licenses for two new businesses
Two new businesses cleared an important hurdle on their way to opening at the Rosebrook Development on Route 28 when they were granted licenses at Tuesday's Selectmen meeting.
Selectmen held a short meeting because of Tuesday night's election, but were able to hold two public meetings for Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Rosebrook Wine and Spirits, who will operate two adjacent units at 20 Rosebrook Place.
Selectmen approved a common victualler's license for Five Guys allowing them to serve food. Bob Zinc, who will run the Five Guys at Rosebrook, said the business sells hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, milkshakes and other Coca Cola products, "all fresh and made to order."
"We should be open in a couple of weeks," Zinc said Tuesday night.
Selectmen also approved the transfer of the year-round all liquor license from Mill Pond Station, 2569 Cranberry Highway to the soon to be opened Rosebrook Wine and Spirits. The license was initially transferred from the Mill Pond Station to Rosebrook by Selectmen in January 2014 but there was no specific destination for the license.
The two owners of the new wine shop, Chris Smith and Deb Miglino, were on hand at the Selectmen meeting.
Both Selectmen Alan Slavin and Patrick Tropeano said they have known Smith for years and know him to be an upstanding citizen.
"It's good to see working with Mr. Kane [Jim Kane Senior Vice President at A.D. Makepeace] we're able to establish more business in town," said Selectman Steve Holmes.
