SEMAP and A.D. Makepeace host Bog Jog

Aug 4, 2011

Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP) will hold a 5K trail walk/run fundraiser, rain or shine, through the property and along the cranberry bogs of A.D. Makepeace in Wareham on Saturday, September 17.

Runners and walkers 14 years and older, are invited to register for Bog Jog, which will be professionally timed and posted online, at semaponline.org. Advance registration is $20; race day registration fee is $30.

All pre-registered for the event by September 5 are guaranteed a race shirt, tote and local food goodie bag. Following the race, refreshments will be offered and medals will be awarded to the overall winners and winners in each age group.

Funds raised by the premiere Bog Jog, which is being sponsored by A.D. Makepeace, will help SEMAP in its mission go preserve and expand access to local food and sustainable farming in Southeastern Massachusetts.

SEMAP is also looking for volunteers for the event to sign in race participants, distribute bibs, race shirts and goodie bags, and hand out water during the course. The run/walk will follow the trail roads through the property owned by A.D. Makepeace and around a bog. To sign up to help at the Bog Jog, contact Sarah Cogswell at scogswell@semaponline.org.
