Service for Annmarie Rita Sunday at gazebo in Onset
A memorial for Annmarie Rita will be held Sunday, June 2, at the gazebo on the Onset Bluffs on Onset Ave.
Rita was struck and killed by car on Cranberry Highway while trying to cross the road.
After the service a petition will be circulated asking residents to ask leaders of the community and the state to meet with residents to discuss a "pedestrian safety overhaul" of routes 6 and 28.
Children are encouraged to participate in the singing of a song at the service, and rehearsal will be Friday, at 6 p.m. (rain date, Saturday, 6 p.m.) at the gazebo. Parents must accompany children to the rehearsal.
Any kid old enough to stand and sing may participate.
Children are also being asked to make homemade wreaths or decorate a leaf - like Annmarie used to - from items found at home or outside. The wreaths will be hung on the gazebo for the service by the kids between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.
Annmarie's daughter Jessica will be there and would like to hear from people who knew Annmarie in her final days.
Two guitarists are also being sought to provide music.
Any adults interested in volunteering, or who would like their kids to sing may call Lynne Burroughs at 774-678-8562.
