With slideshow: Wareham celebrates second National Night Out
Wareham hosted its second National Night Out on Tuesday.
National Night Out is an event that focuses on crime prevention by encouraging communities and local police departments to work together as partners.
The event was sponsored by the Wareham Police Department, the Onset Fire Department, Community Police Partnership volunteers, and Target, a national sponsor for National Night Out.
The fun kicked off with a parade of emergency-responder vehicles down Onset Avenue. Event-goers then enjoyed a Wareham Police K-9 Unit demonstration, a Fire Department Jaws of Life demonstration, and plenty of other entertainment.
There was a moonwalk, a rock wall, face painting, an interactive smokehouse, and child ID/fingerprinting. Participants also got to meet Smokey the Bear and could take a ride on the Police Department's new ATVs.
