As doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals put themselves at risk to combat the coronavirus pandemic, Southcoast Health has started an initiative to garner support for those on the frontlines of a crisis. 

The health organization has asked South Coast residents to “go red” with lights, banners, ribbons, hearts, and decorations as a symbol of support for healthcare workers. 

Symbols of support for Southcoast Health’s initiative can be shared on social media with #SouthcoastFrontlines.

In addition, Southcoast Health has asked the community to submit offers of donated supplies, including personal protective equipment and hand sanitizer, at Southcoast.org.

According to representatives at Southcoast Health, the online initiative has already gained widespread support. 

“The immense outpouring of support from our community has already been overwhelming,” Southcoast Health President Keith Hovan said. “Individuals, schools and businesses have been reaching out to offer anything and everything that may assist us in this fight. It has been humbling and inspiring, but not surprising. We have said it many times before: There is no greater place than the southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island region we serve.”
