State Rep. Susan Williams Gifford reappointed to leadership post, two committees

Feb 13, 2019

State Representative Susan Williams Gifford (R-Wareham) has been reappointed to a top leadership post and two legislative committees by House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) for the 2019-2020 session.

A member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives since 2003, Gifford was renamed the Assistant Minority Whip for the House Republican Caucus on Feb. 11. A whip manages their party's legislative program on the House floor.

In this position, Gifford will help to help manage the caucus’ legislative agenda and track votes.

The Wareham legislator was also reappointed to the House Committee on Steering, Policy and Scheduling.

This committee is charged with assisting the Speaker and the members of the House of Representatives in identifying major matters pending before the General Court and the urgency and priority for the consideration of such matters.

Gifford also received a new appointment to the House Committee on Ethics.

“It is an honor to continue serving in this leadership role for my caucus,” Gifford said. “Being re-appointed to the House Committee on Steering, Policy and Scheduling this session allows me to have greater input and information on the movement of bills through the legislative process. I also look forward to taking on the new responsibilities that come with being a member of the Ethics Committee.”
