WAREHAM – Steven L. Fernandes, 60, of Wareham, died Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham unexpectedly.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of Irma (Santos) Fernandes of Wareham and the late Jesse Gino Fernandes.

Steven worked as a chef for many nursing homes and restaurants in the Wareham area including, All American Assisted Living in Wareham, Keystone Place in Buzzards Bay, Old Country Buffet, and Five Guys.

Steven also served in the Mass. Army National Guard.

He is survived by his daughter, Ebony A.S. Fernandes of New Bedford; his mother, Irma Fernandes of Wareham; his siblings, Gino Fernandes of Mesa, AZ, Marlene Gomes and her husband Benjamin of Wareham, Eugene Fernandes of Wareham, Darlene Chambers of Wareham, Doreen Fernandes of Wareham, Sheila Paris of Providence, RI, and Derek Paris and his wife Melissa of Worcester; his grandchildren, Xavier Roldan and Aaliyah Fernandes; his former wife, Jerrie Aponte. and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, the late Ryan Aponte, his step-father, the late Edward DaLuz, and his companion, the late Susan Hardy.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Fri, Jan. 13, 2023 at Chapman Funerals and Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 9 to 11 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.
