Students get visit from meteorologist
Jan 28, 2014
Nine classes of 5th graders packed the Middle School Autiorium to learn from WBZ-TV meteorologist Danielle Niles, who brought along her "pet tornado."
"We love having a woman here as a role model in the science field," said science teacher Nancy Remillard.
Niles spoke about all sorts of weather events from tornadoes to northeasters. Her speaking and photos had students captivated.
"She's holding her own with nine classes of 5th graders," said Remillard."Her energy is exceeding their energy which really helps."
Remillard has made this visit an annual event which concludes with a question-and-answer session with students. She said its a good followup for both the MCAS tests and curriculum.
