Superintendent search narrowed down to two candidates

Interviews for the superintendent position at Wareham Public Schools will be held the week of April 11, and the Search Committee is down to two candidates.

After reviewing 19 total applicants, three candidates were submitted to the School Committee for consideration, per a press release. One of those three later withdrew their application.

The two candidates in the running are Matthew D’Andrea and Andrea Schwamb.

D’Andrea is the current superintendent of Martha’s Vineyard Regional Schools in Vineyard Haven, according to the release. D’Andrea has served as superintendent since 2015, and he has previously worked as an assistant superintendent, principal, assistant principal and classroom teacher.

He earned a doctoral degree in law and policy from Northeastern University in 2009, the release states.

The second candidate, Schwamb, currently works as assistant superintendent of Wareham Public Schools, a position she has held since 2014. Schwamb has served as a principal, assistant principal and classroom teacher.

Schwamb earned a doctoral degree in education from Northeastern University in 2013.
