Sweets and tunes for Historical Society fundraiser

Aug 29, 2016

A little music and some sweet treats were rewards on Sunday night for supporters of the Wareham Historical Society.

Though it was under renovation, the Old Methodist Meeting House held over 40 people who enjoyed an hour's worth of songs and dance from singer and songwriter Grace Morrison and her students, as well as sundaes and strawberry shortcakes.

The concert included sing-a-long songs by Johnny Cash and Cindy Lauper, traditional Irish tunes, and a performance of Irish step dancing by Alisha Mackin, 16.

Dancer and singer Mackin accompanied Morrison for the concert along with violinist and singer Sam Babineau, 18, both students of Morrison.

The Historical Society held a 50/50 raffle, which Howie Smith won. A member of the society, Smith donated his winnings of $20 back to the society.
