Take a great walk at Great Neck
Event Date:
With Ospreys and Great Blue Herons making their way back to Wareham, the Wareham Land Trust is teaming up with Mass Audubon for a guided walk of the Great Neck Wildlife Sanctuary.
The walk will take place Tuesday, April 29 beginning at 9:30 p.m. The two mile walk will be done at a slow and moderate pace and will be geared towards adults.
Throughout the walk, attendees will learn about the history and how Ospreys and Great Blue Herons are preparing for their nesting season. The walk will also explore topics such as the birds' courtship rituals and efforts on how to mitigate the impact climate change is having on the birds.
The walk will be damp and will cover uneven terrain. Ticks will be present and pets are not allowed on the walk. Anyone with binoculars is welcome to bring them.
The event is free and registration is limited. Visit https://www.massaudubon.org/programs/allens-pond/96307-birds-of-great-neck to register.
