Thanks to Red Cross for help during blizzard

Mar 5, 2013

To the Editor:

During the recent blizzard, I was without power, heat, etc. I have many health issues and had to be transported by police to the town's warming center. From there, my wife and I were transferred to Plymouth South High School, where we found the Red Cross.

My wife and I would like to thank all the volunteers in our community, as well as the Red Cross, from the bottom of our hearts for being there when we needed you. The Red Cross coordinator, Mary Jane Gardner, and her nurses and EMTs, were without a doubt exceptional.

I got friendly with one EMT, named Doug, who got me needles for my insulin shot. I had the insulin, but forgot my needles. I can't thank him enough, and the other workers were terrific as well.

Nothing personal: I hope we don't need your services for a long time. But, it is a relief to know you are there.
