Stock up your library.

The Friends of the Wareham Free Library will have plenty of gently used books for all ages and in all subjects for sale on Sept. 23-25 at the main library at 59 Marion Rd. The special table this month has a variety of books on crafting and holiday cooking.

The book sale will be open on Thursday, Sept. 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All proceeds will support the work of the Friends.

Show off your soccer skills.

The Wareham Elks are hosting a soccer shoot competition open to kids up to 14 years old at the soccer fields at 98 Charlotte Furnace Rd.

Registration will open at 9 a.m., and the shoot will begin at 10 a.m. The competition is open to boys and girls and will be divided into four age groups: under 8, under 10, under 12, and under 14. 

All participants will receive a free t-shirt. In case of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26. Those with questions should call Chairman Jim Callan at 617-967-5720.

Shop a rummage sale.

Church of the Good Shepherd will host its Annual Fall Rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 74 High Street. Items for sale include: clothing, coats, shoes, books, domestic items, puzzles, games and toys. Funds will support the church and outreach programming. Masks are required to enter the building.

Attend a yard sale fundraiser.

Peace for Ponies, an animal sanctuary located at 12 Great Neck Rd. in East Wareham, will be hosting a yard sale fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 25, and Sunday, Sept. 26. In case of rain, the yard sale will be held the following weekend on Oct. 2 and 3.

Enjoy some BBQ chicken.

The Redmen Hall at 745 Main St. will be hosting a chicken BBQ from 4 to 9 p.m.

Diners can choose to eat in or take out, and the event will include music and raffles. Tickets cost $15 and should be reserved early. For tickets, call 508-291-0882.
