Five Upper Cape students inducted in National Honor Society
Five of the 17 students inducted into the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School Chapter of the National Honor Society on Thursday, Dec. 7 are from Wareham.
Senior Jabneal Lozada Santana is studying engineering technology and currently serves as the Class of 2024 president. He is also involved in athletics, including football and the Upper Cape Adventure Club.
In a recommendation letter, one teacher wrote, “He is not only creative and innovative but also exhibits unwavering integrity and respect towards his peers, educators and coaches. He always displays a positive attitude and genuine desire to help others succeed.”
Senior Brodie Scott is studying horticulture at Upper Cape and serves as an officer for the Future Farmers of America group. In this role, he has been able to attend leadership conferences and become an active member of the Upper Cape community. Scott plays on the varsity football team and is co-captain of his club soccer team. He has achieved high honors all fours years of high school.
Senior Ivey Patton Salsman is studying marine technology and commits her summers to helping with the Upper Cape Summer amp as well as the Maintenance Department. She is said to be a student everyone can depend on.
According to the event program, she has been involved with cheerleading and has put in numerous volunteer hours into her school community because it is important to her “to have a learning space that is filled with spirit.”
Junior Sean Dematos is studying information technology. He is an avid chess player, received high honors and won the Outstanding Achievement Award in English.
One teacher wrote, “Sean is undoubtedly one of the most dedicated, conscientious, and intellectually curious students I have encountered.”
Junior Diamond Staton is studying cosmetology and has been involved in Boys and Girls Club, basketball, cheerleading, the Onset Bay Center and more.
Teachers commented on how dependable, committed and friendly she is.
One teacher wrote, her positive attitude and ability to make people laugh draw others toward her while she “effortlessly creates a sense of camaraderie that enhances the overall atmosphere” around her.
