Three Wareham students found in possession of marijuana
Three Wareham students were found with marijuana after the Wareham Police Department and approximately 15 K-9 units conducted a drug search in schools on Friday, November 18.
Wareham Police conducted the search in conjunction with the School Department in Wareham High School, Wareham Junior/Senior Cooperative School, and Wareham Middle School, according to a police statement.
The police dogs found 14 "indications of marijuana' at Wareham High School, as well as one in a vehicle in the parking lot, according to police. One instance was found in a vehicle at the Cooperative School, while no evidence of marijuana was found at the middle school, police said.
The three students, who were not identified because they are juveniles, will be issued citations for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana, according to police. The students will also face disciplinary action from the School Department.
“It should be noted that all students at each of the schools searched were very cooperative during the time of the search,” police said in the statement.
In addition to Wareham Police, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department, the Massachusetts Department of Correction, and K-9 units from across southeastern Massachusetts participated in the search.
