Tigers dominate in first round of regionals
The Wareham Tigers B and C-squads have been on fire all season, and obliterated the competition in the first round of regionals last weekend.
The B-squad blanked North Kingston RI with a score of 32-0, while the C-squad walked away with a decisive 32-6 victory over Warwick RI.
On Nov. 24, at either Spillane Field or the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, the teams will each take on squads from West Haven Connecticut.
"Two more games, and we're going to Florida," said Tigers President Joseph Silvia, referring to the national competition. "No tigers squad has ever gone to Florida."
According to Silvia, over the past 30 years or so, the Wareham Tigers have won five Super Bowls.
Four of those Super Bowls were won in the past five years.
Should the Tigers win the next two games and head to Florida, it won't exactly be cheap.
"I personally would prefer to have [Sunday's game] at the high school so the money at the gates can go to the kids," says Silvia.
Silvia says that one of the keys to the Tigers' success has been placing an emphasis on working as a team.
"They've all been performing very well, we teach team concept....no one guy can win the game by themselves," says Silvia.
Kick off for the B-squad will be at 11 a.m., and the C-squad will take the field at 1 p.m. The location will be posted here when it is locked down.
