Tigers take Super Bowl, head to regionals

Nov 12, 2013

The Wareham Tigers B and C squads are heading to the first round of regionals after defeating Taunton and Brockton respectively Saturday, Nov. 9 at Spillane Field.

B squad coach Chris Perry says the team scored on the first drive, then held Taunton's offense at bay for the rest of the game. The tigers scored another touchdown in the fourth, winning 14-0.

Both touchdowns were scored by Nick Perry.

Quaterback "Isaac Nascimento had some big runs for us," as well, Perry noted.

The B squad will face the North Kingston RI Jaguars in a rematch of last year's round one regional game, in which the B squad trampled the Jaguars 32-0.

"We have six returning starters from the team that went to regionals last years," Perry said.

With that kind of experience, these boys have more than a fighting chance.

The C squad will face Warwick RI at round one of regionals after winning its Super Bowl game against Brockton in a hard-fought 19-14 victory. Putting points on the board were Eric Zine, Justin Lopes and Tyler Noe.

"It was a tough game," said coach Mike Cote. The team was down 14-0 at the end of the first, but came back in a big way.

"The kids came to play and they really stepped up, came back and showed what they were made of," Cote said.  "I'm very proud of the team, they proved themselves all season long and they deserved this win."

Cote also offered congratulations to Perry and the B squad for their stellar performances in the regular season and the post season.

"I don't think there's ever been two Tigers teams that have advanced this far," said Cote.  "Between the two teams they've probably lost four games."

Wareham Week will update this story with the date and times of the game when they become available.
