Tihonet Pond fishing derby set for June 4

The Wankinquoah Road and Gun Club will hold its annual Tihonet Pond Fishing Derby on Sunday, June 4. Check-in begins at 4 a.m. and is continues throughout the day. Fishing takes place from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. followed by an awards presentation at 2 p.m.

The derby takes place during the state’s free fishing weekend and fishing licenses are not required. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories for adults and juniors.

Anglers can fish from shore or bring a boat, canoe or kayak. No combustion engines are allowed Tihonet Pond.

The fee is $12 for adults and $3 for children 14 and under. Fee includes breakfast. For more information or to register online, visit www.wrgcassociates.weebly.com. A raffle including prizes such as a 10’ Tracker Jon Boat, trolling motor worth more than $900, GoPro camera and Old Town 111 kayak will be held. Proceeds benefit the Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club Associates, the club’s youth group.
