Town fees increase for late dog registration

May 26, 2015

The second round of late fees for renewing dog registration goes into effect Monday, June 1.

If dog owners have a pet that has been neutered or spayed, but not registered with the town, it will cost $30. For those dogs who have not been neutered or spayed, it will cost $33.

New dog registrations remain at $10 for neutered or spayed, and $13 for those dogs not neutered or spayed.

Beginning Aug. 1, there will be a flat fee of $50 for all renewals.

All licenses run from January to December 2015. All dogs must have been vaccinated against rabies in order to be eligible for a license, but owners do not have to wait until a certificate is sent to them. The town is notified and sent a copy of the rabies certificate, by state law, from any veterinarian who vaccinated the dog.
