Town gears up for elections

Prospective candidates will soon have the green light to begin their campaigns for local office. 

Nomination papers will be available on Thursday, Feb. 1. The last day for nomination papers to be filed with the Board of Elections is Tuesday, March 19. 

Two seats will be up for election on the Select Board, one a three year term and the other a two year unexpired term. 

Two seats will be up for election on the school committee, each a three year term. 

Positions will also be open on the Board of Assessors, the Sewer Commmissioners, the Housing Authority and as the town’s Deputy Moderator. 

The last day to register to vote is Friday, April 12. The last day to request a mail-in ballot is Tuesday, April 30. 

Election day for local elections is Tuesday, May 7. 

Wareham residents 18 years of age by election day may register to vote in the Town Clerk’s office. A resident may register to vote by mail, in person or online at sec.state.ma.us/ovr/. Mail-in forms must be postmarked on or before Friday, April 12 for voters to be eligible for the May town election.
